Laine Magazine Issue 7 - Kouta
Our winter/spring 2019 issue is an interesting mix of easy, relaxing patterns suitable even for beginners and patterns that will challenge you and teach even the experienced knitter something new. Colourwork patterns are well represented in this issue, as three out of the 12 design feature colourwork. There is also lace and cables, garments with plenty of positive ease as well as more fitted garments, some smaller, quicker projects and some that will take more time and attention. Issue 7 features three shawls and one cowl, three sweaters, three cardigans, one vest and one pair of fingerless mitts, so there’s sure to be something for everyone!
Kouta was photographed in Lapland in late November and early December last year. With just a couple of hours of daylight each day, we knew we would need to work fast, but the end result is definitely worth the hassle. Divine woollen knitwear, a light coating of snow and those crisp December days – we hope to deliver a glimpse of the Lappish winters to you through this issue.
So what can you find in this issue besides the gorgeous knitwear? Well, there are of course several interesting articles for you – an interview with Veera Välimäki and a Q & A with Annie Rowden, to name just a few. We also have seasonal recipes (the chocolate and plum cake pictured below is to die for!) and our traditional travel guide, this time to London. All in all, issue 7 is filled with beautiful wintery landscapes from Lapland and knitwear that you will find comfort in for many years to come. There's also a glimpse of spring in there – a dream of that first gentle spring day when you can leave your jacket at home, throw on your favourite cardigan and cowl and breathe in the fresh air.
